For the past few months I have been working on my whole set up. Packaging, name, display, artwork, EVERYTHING has been upgraded. I am setting aside time to try and make at least three new sets a week. The real goal is one a day. But that isn't always possible.
I learned a few new Photoshop tricks and now I have much better looking photos. Pretty soon I'll have a new light box to make them even better. Right now I'm using the Foldio 1 which uses super bright led lights. It's so fantastic. It's light, fold-able and takes great photos with either my camera phone or that fancy new camera I got. I ordered the Foldio 2 which is bigger, brighter, badder and all around awesome! It should ship soon. I can't friggn wait!
My buttons will now come in sets of 4 with the option of upgrading to magnets. I package everything on 42pt brown chipboard that I got from Thunderbolt Paper. This is thick enough to keep my buttons from wiggling in transit not to mention is looks great. I punch out the holes for the pins to go in by hand. I don't have a way to do this faster unfortunately.
Another great thing I got were custom stamps of my new logo. Simon Stamps turned out to be the best option. They had good pricing and a super fast turn around time. I really love my new stamps. I've been stamping everything with them. Chipboard, envelopes, small children...
I also have plastic photo sleeves that go over everything when it's done. This added level of protection makes everything feel very safe and secure.
It took a lot of time and work but I am very happy with the results. Everything looks clean and professional while maintaining a hand made touch.
Thanks to some trouble I ended up moving back to my old home town. It's nice being back to a quiet place with everything near by. I get to take my son to the park, spend time with friends and help out my family. I've also started to do local shows selling my pins and making buttons for people as they watch. It's been a lot of fun and a lot of learning. Now if the sun could just go a little easier on me I'd be happy.
But summer in Florida is always a scorcher.
I hope you enjoy the new pin designs. I would like to put up drawing tutorials if anyone is interested. I'm learning a lot more about art as I go and I don't mind sharing one bit.
